Edoardo Sinibaldi received a BSc/MSc in Aerospace Engineering (with Honors) from the University of Pisa (Italy) in 2002, after an internship period at Rolls-Royce plc (Derby, UK) during which he studied computational geometry methods for air-breathing engines applications. In 2006 he obtained a Ph.D. in Mathematics for Technology and Industry (with Honors) from the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, where he developed numerical methods for computational fluid dynamics, with application to cavitating flows in liquid propellant rocket engines. Then he moved to Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa (The BioRobotics Institute), holding a post-doctoral position until October 2009. During the period, he was strongly involved in competitive fundraising and project technical management (national and European projects in the ICT and MNP areas). He is with the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) since November 2009, formerly as Senior Post-Doc then fixed-term Researcher at the IIT Center for Micro-BioRobotics. Since January 2019, he holds a permanent position as Chief Technician in the Bioinspired Soft Robotics line. Since 2017, Edoardo Sinibaldi also holds two national scientific qualifications as Associate Professor, namely for Bioengineering and Applied Mechanics. His research activity bridges modeling (at large, and in particular for biomedical applications), model-based design (in particular for flexible tools) and soft robotics (with some focus on biomimetics/bioinspiration).
Edoardo Sinibaldi authored nearly 60 papers on international journals (all of them being research papers, with the only exception of just one review) and 20 papers on international conferences, 6 patents, 1 book and 3 book chapters (plus 1 popular science book, edited and co-authored). He serves as Reviewer for more than 60 international journals, besides international conferences and research proposals (EU ERC, Swiss SNSF, Dutch NWO, Hong Kong RGC), and as Editorial Board Member (Associate/Academic Editor) for the following international journals: Scientific Reports (Nature Research), PLOS ONE, Frontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, Machines, International Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems.
